No reservation needed! Come out and ride the autonomous, self-driving 11-passenger Navya Autonom Shuttle, Ags!
The shuttle uses the latest technology to “drive itself” and its passengers, avoiding obstacles like pedestrians and bicyclists. A safety operator is onboard at all times to take control of the shuttle in the case of an emergency. This public deployment will carry passengers along a route near the Corp of Cadets dorms and Southside Garage on Texas A&M University’s main campus.
The shuttle will also be on static display in the Texas A&M Fan Zone prior to the Texas A&M vs. Lamar home football game on Sept. 14 and the Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State home football game on Oct. 26.
WHERE: Near the Corps of Cadets dorms and Southside Garage on Texas A&M University’s main campus.
WHAT: Demonstration of autonomous low-speed shuttle with obstacles, pedestrian and bicycle scanning and avoidance.
HOW DO I RIDE?:Just come on out! No reservation is required.
WHY: Demonstrate new mobility technology options and promote Texas A&M University as a leader in campus mobility. Conduct public attitude surveys and deployment evaluation.
WHO: Open to students, faculty, staff and the local community.
WHEN: Public deployment of 11-passenger shuttle and rides with a safety driver will occur Sept. 9–Nov. 15, 2019.
HOW: Operational deployment Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shuttle will be on static display in the Texas A&M Fan Zone prior to the Texas A&M vs. Lamar home football game on Sept. 14 and the Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State home football game on Oct. 26.
